Unmatched Compatibility for DNA Extraction

One of the standout features of the gMAX Mini Genomic DNA Kit is its ability to extract DNA from a variety of sources. Whether you're working with fresh or frozen whole blood, cultured cells, tissue samples, or even FFPE tissue, this kit has been optimized for maximum versatility. Other sample types, such as buccal swabs, hair, insects, and amniotic fluid, can also be processed efficiently.

This broad compatibility ensures that researchers can rely on one consistent and dependable kit, no matter the sample type.

Fast, Reliable DNA Purification Protocol

The gMAX Mini Genomic DNA Kit employs an advanced lysis and binding mechanism that ensures efficiency. Using Proteinase K and chaotropic salts, the kit facilitates thorough lysis of cells and degradation of proteins. The purified DNA binds to the spin column’s glass fiber matrix and is subsequently washed to remove contaminants.

The protocol is simple yet effective:

- Sample preparation involves adding specific buffers and Proteinase K.

- After lysis, the lysate is transferred to the spin column to allow DNA binding.

- Impurities are removed using wash buffers, and purified DNA is eluted with an elution buffer, TE, or water.

This streamlined process eliminates the need for time-consuming and hazardous phenol/chloroform extractions. The entire protocol can be completed in less than 30 minutes, making it ideal for laboratories where speed is critical.

Superior Quality and High Yield of Purified DNA

When it comes to yield and purity, the gMAX Mini Genomic DNA Kit excels. Researchers can expect DNA with an A260/A280 ratio of 1.8 to 2.0, ensuring high purity suitable for downstream applications like PCR, qPCR, and other enzymatic reactions.

For instance, from a 200 µl blood sample, the kit can isolate approximately 5 µg of DNA, with typical sizes ranging from 20 to 30 kb. This ensures the integrity of the extracted DNA for various research purposes.

Optimized for Diverse Research Applications

The gMAX Mini Genomic DNA Kit is engineered to meet the needs of scientists in multiple fields. Its ability to process a wide range of samples makes it a preferred choice for genomic studies, clinical diagnostics, and biotechnological research. From isolating DNA from delicate FFPE samples to extracting genetic material from tough sources like hair and insects, this kit delivers consistent and reliable results every time.

What competitor’s kit is comparable?

QIAGEN DNeasy kit

Can QIAGEN reagents be used with IBI columns?

Yes, anything that is “lysis-based” will work with IBI columns.

Can I extract Genomic DNA from a Milk sample using this kit?

Yes this kit will work when using a Milk sample. For small samples (200 µl) use the blood protocol. For larger samples (1 ml) use the amniotic fluid protocol.

When the tissue sample is slightly degraded, what can I do to improve the low yield of gDNA?

1. After adding the GT buffer and Pro K to the sample, proceed to vortex, and then incubate over night at 60°C. During the overnight incubation use an automated shaking water bath to continually agitate the sample during incubation.

2. Perform the RNA removal step as recommended in the protocol.

3. Pre-heat the elution buffer to 60°C for the elution step.

4. Using large amounts of elution buffer (100 µl – 200 µl) during the elution step can raise the DNA yield.

5. Homogenize tissue samples prior to lysis to help in the Pro-K digestion.

Will the gMax Kit work for fecal matter?

You can purchase our IBI Fecal DNAkit for extracting DNA from fecal matter (IB47820-IB47822).

What is the typical tissue yields using the gMax kits?

Depending on the starting material, it can be anywhere from upwards of 50µg with 25 mg of tissue, or between 10-40µg with 20 mg of tissue.

Where can I get more of the Proteinase K Solution?

You can purchase our Proteinase K Solution-5 ml (IB05406 20 mg/ml) and dilute it with purified water (ddH20) to a concentration of 10 mg/ml.
