Product Description:
The Semi-Dry Blotter plates are graphite-coated to reduce heat, minimize buffer usage, and produce clear, undistorted transfer bands, making them ideal for Western Blot applications. The transfer unit stack is formed by placing the gel and membrane in contact, sandwiched between filter papers soaked in transfer buffer. An electric current is applied perpendicular to the gel and buffer-saturated filter papers, allowing the bands from the charged molecules of the gels to migrate and bind to the membrane, completing the transfer. The transfer time depends on molecule size and the number of transfer units. Multiple stacks can be run simultaneously for efficient Western Blot processing.

Additional Details:
Ideal for efficient and economical transfer of protein, RNA, or DNA from polyacrylamide or agarose gels to a solid membrane support, which is subsequently visualized by staining methods.
Working Surface Dimensions:
- Semi-Dry Blotter: 16cm x 16cm
- Semi-Dry Blotter Large: 25cm x 30cm
Recommended Maximum Capacity:
- Semi-Dry Blotter: 1 - 6 trans-units
- Semi-Dry Blotter Large: 1 - 3 trans-units
Both the Semi-Dry Blotter and Semi-Dry Blotter Large have graphite-coated plates to reduce heat, minimize buffer usage, and produce clear, undistorted transfer bands.
A transfer unit stack is formed by placing the gel and membrane in contact, sandwiched between filter papers soaked in transfer buffer. An electric current is applied perpendicular to the gel and buffer-saturated filter papers, allowing the bands from the charged molecules of the gels to migrate and bind to the membrane, completing the transfer. The transfer time depends on molecule size and the number of transfer units.
Several stacks of transfer units can be run simultaneously:
- The Semi-Dry Blotter can accommodate six trans-units at the same time.
- The Semi-Dry Blotter Large can accommodate three trans-units at the same time.
