High-Purity Bacteriological Agar for Microbiological Applications
IBI’s Bacteriological Agar serves as a reliable solidification agent in microbiological culture media preparation. This granulated agar is a water-soluble colloidal extract derived from specific species of marine red algae, including Gelidium, Pterocladia, and Gracilaria. Through meticulous manufacturing processes, impurities, debris, minerals, and pigments are reduced to precise levels, ensuring superior quality. Since most microorganisms cannot digest agar, it stands out as an exceptional solidifying agent, making it indispensable for microbiology and general research purposes where clarity requirements are flexible.
Consistent Quality for Advanced Research Needs
Engineered for high purity and consistent performance, IBI Bacteriological Agar is ideal for both microbiology and molecular biology research. Its remarkable lot-to-lot consistency ensures reproducible results, making it a trusted choice for demanding laboratory applications. Conveniently stored at room temperature in a sealed container to protect from moisture and light, it maintains its integrity and usability for extended periods. Whether for routine media preparation or specialized research, IBI’s Bacteriological Agar delivers the precision and reliability needed for successful experimentation.

Recommended Use
IBI’s Bacteriological Agar is used as a solidification agent in the preparation of microbiological culture media.
Granulated Agar is a water-soluble colloidal extract from certain species of marine red algae; including Gelidium, Pterocladia, and Gracilaria. Impurities, debris, minerals, and pigments are reduced to specific levels during manufacture.
The majority of microorganisms cannot digest Agar, thus making it an excellent solidifying agent.
Granulated Agar may be used for general microbiological purposes where clarity is not a strict requirement.
Storage
Store at room temperature. Keep tightly sealed. Protect from moisture and light.
Warning
Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Wash thoroughly with water after handling. See Material
Safety Data Sheet for additional information.
